The main BSO contingent consisted of 40 young people and 7 adults. The young people were split into five patrols of eight Scouts/Explorers with an adult mentor allocated to each patrol leaving two leaders to organise overall camp victualling, admin and leader’s food. Contingent patrol names were based on the subcamp comic book heroes theme:

We were unable to cater for more than 40 young people, so due to high-demand a further 6 Scouts were hosted and divided equally between two adjacent Groups – 1stToulouse (BSO) and 41stCheltenham (Gloucestershire). The 1stToulouse consisted of 10 Scouts (13 with BSO extras) and 3 adults. The 1stToulouse were in turn hosted by 1stHealing (Lincolnshire).

Each of the four groups (BSO Contingent, 1stToulouse, 41stCheltenham and 1stHealing camped adjacent to the BSO Contingent which enabled us to share resources amongst the three camps which proved very useful and fostered good friendships across all age ranges.
